My software version is 1.2 too and i have no problem to access the service menu. Switch the bike on and press the botton once more so that you get the menu with the lock, on/of switcht etc. etc. While holding the right brakehandle press the menu icon on the display and *hold* it until you released the brake and wait (still holding the menu icon) until the next menu appears.

In this menu you'll find the service menu as last item in the list
