I have a Stromer ST2 for 2 months now and have done around 800km (25-30k per day ie. 150 vertical meters down in the morning, and 150 vertical meters up in the evening).
I agree with peterw on all his points. I add:
1. Mechanically a super bike. In fact, I love cycling it - by far the best bike that I have tried. Battery life and consumption is great when you do not use some of the i-Features (see point 3). Stromer has definitely gotten the mechanics right.
2. Battery consumption is good. Cycling 90% on Power 2 mode, I can easily get 100km from a single charge.
3. I am having MAJOR battery discharging issues when I leave the bike in 'LOCKED' mode overnight or over the weekend for example. 'LOCKED' mode means your ST2 will send you an SMS if someone tries to move it, and the motor blocks making it impossible to cycle away with it. I have informed Stromer Support, they replaced the battery 2 weeks ago but that did not solve the issue. As of today (Sep 30, 2014), I am still waiting for an answer from Stromer Engineers. When the issue is solved, or not, I will repost on this Forum to update.
QUESTION: Has anybody else experience this issue?
4. The should-be-cool localisation feature doesn't quite work. It often takes days before the bike's location is updated. Hopefully Stromer will solve this issue soon.
5. The Stromer App on my iPhone 5S didn't transition nicely with the latest iOS 8 update. Some of the App's features aren't working (e.g. the Status).
6. To cite peterw, the tuning is indeed minimalist, and needs to be improved.
7. When you remove the Battery to recharge it, the battery cover doesn't stay closed and you cannot lock it closed. Not ideal when you leave your bike outside (uncovered) and it is raining.
Weather:
I have cycled in heavy, heavy rain and did not experience problems yet. I plan to use the bike during the winter months, so stay posted.
Launch USA:
Stromer plans to launch the ST2 in the USA during the first half of 2015. Hopefully the company resolves many of the problems with the i-Features by then.
